Splinters

So much time passing since the breaking of hearts
Now most of us have moved on, except for some stubborn parts
Not willing to let go of the rust that holds
Them in that terrible place of old, covered in mold
From the conflict, drawn as ancient history
Its like I'm France and they're Germany
I dropped this topic like it was hot but now I feel
That I'd pick it up, snap it in two, leave it now for real
But some people just pick up the fragments to remember
And hold on till they can't anymore, it felt whatever
Till it came back to me, going back to this tree
Where we used to meet, I'm back to being chill, but see
Some people find the dumbest reasons to be mad about
Excuses to make them feel like they wanna gut you like a trout
For things that happened so long ago, why
Have that burden of memory sit upon your mind?
It pains me when I see or hear about these grudges
I let go of mine, but some people just turn into drudges
But still I dream of the day when we all find it ok
To put this shit aside, to break these splinters away
